How To Clean a Computer
Cleaning the inside of your computer is a fairly easy and straightforward procedure. After removing the side of the computer case you will have full access to all the compenents inside and be able to remove any dust that has accumulated over time.
The areas you will want to pay special attention to will be anywhere that you see a fan or heatsink. Fans and heatsinks are crucial for keeping your system cool and the cleaner they are, the better they can perform. The most common places you will find fans are in the front of the case, the back of the case, on the CPU and on the video card. You can use a can of compressed air or "Blow Off" to spray away any dust that is inside your system, just make sure to hold the can upright so you will not spray any of the propellent into your computer. If there is a component with a lot of dust on it that the air cannot spray way, use a small brush like a toothbrush to scrape it off.
You may be tempted to use a vacuum cleaner inside your computer but this is not recommended since it could generate static electricity and fry sensitive components. Just take your time and get everything as clean as possible because the cleaner your system is, the faster and longer it will run. Watch the video below for a quick demonstration of how it is done.
